Welcome!
My name is Catlin Cahill and I started raising livestock as an FFA project in high school in Southern California. During my career in FFA I had several champion animals in sheep, pigs, and both market and dairy goats, as well as showing market steers. I was also was very successful in my breeding programs of my sheep, pigs, and dairy goats.
Dairy Goats were the main focus. From our first 2 goats which were orginally a Saanen and an Alpine, we had increased in size but still tried to keep only a small herd of under 30 goats. We were very sad that we had to down size our Saanens, the Queens, out of herd in 2011! And then eventually our Alpines in the spring of 2012. In 2009 we participated on DHIR and had two Alpines ending up in the Top 10 for Production, as well as participating in Linear Appraisal with ADGA for 6 years. We usually showed at 5-6 fairs a year and 6-8 local goat shows.
Karakuls were a new addition to the Candy Lily herd in 2007! We had orginally start with Dorset sheep but were won over by the Karakul breed after purchasing a single ewe and loved their personalities. We are still learning about using their fiber and we are still a very small flock!
With the milk we make cheese for our show dogs and we have recently started making soaps and gone to craft fairs to sell the soap!
